In North America, the Eastern Deciduous Forest stretches from Florida to Maine along the east coast and as far west as Texas and Minnesota. The forest extends over 26 U.S. states and as well as parts of southern Canada. Part of an island in Japan is a temperate forest. Oak, ash and conifers grow in the lowlands of the island of Hokkaido.
