#1 · Jan 10, 2011 Hello all, im having an issue with my 2004 Sportsman 600. Sometimes when I turn the ignition key nothing happens at all. The display doesnt turn on the engine doesnt turn. Nothing. If I take off the headlight over and fool around with the wiring harness that goes into the key ignition it will start, sometimes...But as with anything mechanical, there have been some issues that have come to the surface, and there was a run of Sportsman 600's and 700's from 2002 to mid-2004 that were plagued with electrical problems and failure of the ignition system was a matter of when, not if.I just bought a 2004 Sportsman 600 twin. I attempted to replace the starter solenoid because the machine would only start every 2-3 key turns. After putting the new solenoid in, the atv won't start at all and the solenoid isn't even clicking. I put the old solenoid back on and got the same result. I'm 90% sure I wired the solenoid correctly.

I have an 04 sportsman 600 twin. It had bad slipping problems so I bought a new belt, a gates gforce 19g3982e. The OEM belt looked good. It was a 3211091. The secondary clutch ended up being bad. Polaris discontinued it, so I bought one on eBay with same number. Put it on and now its like the belt is not disengaging. Creeping at idle.1. Remove upper rack 4 t27 star bolts. 2. Remove front grill piece says polaris brand on it. 3. Remove plastic that covers the fuse brr. ( right under handle bars). 4.remove the metal part of the rack. 5.
