Changes to bowling ball regulations. As of August 1, any bowling ball that has a balance hole or weight hole will no longer be allowed to be used in USBC-certified competitions. This change was announced over two years ago on April 24, 2018. In addition, there are two bowling balls that have been recently added to the USBC "Non-Approved" list that are completely banned from being used in any USBC certified event. These banned bowling balls are: 1.) Storm Spectre 2.) Purple Hammer (made in the year 2016 & 2017) - Purple Hammer bowling balls manufactured during 2016
