Jun 6, 2013 · 128. Location. northwestern VT. Tractor. Deere 3520. Looks like there should be a connector under the right side of the operator platform, yellow wire and black wire. The PTO solenoid should read 8.5 Ohms, should have 12V on the other yellow side with the PTO engaged (seat up, engine on, 540 selected on lower right side, and knob pulled). John Deere X300--ignition coil issue and engine surging. Hi everyone! I got a JD X300 with a Kawi FH491C-CS04 engine. It has around 320 hours. It started and ran fine. When I go to engage the PTO the engine surges and it seems run at a lower power when PTO is engaged. I also noticed the right ignition coil is not plugged in but it does spark.If you get out of the seat while pto is engaged, power is shut off to the magnet and the pto stops. The lever will stay in engaged position due to a spring under dash. There is also a timer in the circuit. It provides a delay so if you bounce up in the seat momentarily (2 seconds), the pto stays engaged. Dec 5, 2011 / 855 PTO wont engage. #5.
