Shooting 7.62s out of the SFAR has proven to be largely unreliable as they are, most of the time, too underpowered to properly cycle the rifle. Pretty much anything under 2800 fps muzzle velocity isn't worth shooting for the sake of reliable cycling.

I think the 716I can perform alongside its older sibling, the 716 G1 & G2 Piston guns probably to the surprise of many. The 716I may also be able to potentially shoot more accurately than the 716 due to it build type.

So similar applies to 7.62 and .308, just reversed. Generally a rifle is marked for its intended caliber but then you can use the slightly smaller counterpart on it.
