Braid gets a bad rap for abrasion resistance, and around sharper rocks and certain types of plants yeah it cuts pretty quick.Check and see how full the spool is with just the braided line. Chances are it hardly filed the spool with the 100 yards or so that comes in in the standard package. You'll need to put some mono backing on the spool first. Maybe about 1/2 to 3/4 full.
